Ross qualified from Newcastle in 1984. Determined to be an academic orthodontist, he undertook house jobs in Birmingham and Newcastle. He was a junior lecturer in oral biology for 2 years gaining his Masters in Dental Surgery (MDS) degree. He then headed north to Glasgow for his registrar training in oral and maxillo facial surgery, paedodontics (children's dentistry), prosthodontics (dentures), periodontics and oral medicine, gaining his Fellowship in Dental Surgery (FDS, RCPS).

Ross travelled to Dundee for his specialist registrar training in orthodontics, passing his MDOrth examination before returning to Newcastle as Lecturer in Orthodontics in 1992. He was promoted to Senior Lecturer and Honorary Consultant in 2001. He was head of Child Dental Health and Degree Programme Director for the MSc in Orthodontics 3 years specialist training until he left the university in April 2009.

In 2000 Ross founded the first private-only specialist orthodontic practice in the North of England and is the owner and driver of the development of the Windmill Dental Suite, the North of England's first private specialist referral centre. In 2010 he established Windmill Orthodontics a series of specialist orthodontics practices across the North of England.

Ross has an international reputation as an exceptional clinical orthodontist, having led the world renowned Newcastle Hypodontia Team for 10 years. His clinical expertise in the management of hypodontia (missing teeth), orthognathic (jaw) surgery and ectopic/ unerupted (misplaced) teeth is unsurpassed. Ross has published over 100 articles on orthodontics, dental material and dental education research. He has been active in developing dental education for both undergraduates and postgraduates in the North East, the UK and internationally in Europe. This was recognised in 2009 when Ross became the first dentist to be awarded the prestigious Senior Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy. In the same year, the Association for Dental Education presented him with their Excellence in Dental Education award.

Ross has also been active in dental politics; he chaired the Central Dental Academic Staff Committee and was a member of the executive board of the British Dental Association from 2004-2008. In 2010 Ross was awarded Fellowship for the BDA (the associations highest honour) for his work for the BDA and the dental profession.

He is married to Sally, a school head teacher and has two boys, Peter and Simon. In his spare time he is a keen sailor, racing in the world's biggest events - holding two world records and a number of major race wins.

Wendy qualified from Leeds Dental School in 1998. After her vocational training year in general dental practice she completed postgraduate hospital posts in oral and maxillofacial surgery and restorative dentistry. Following this she worked in both NHS and private general dental practice as well as working as a clinical assisstant in orthodontics at Hull Royal Infirmary. This helped decide that orthodontics was the thing for her and she subsequently undertook her posgraduate specialist training in orthodontics in the Yorkshire region at Leeds Dental Institue and Pinderfields Hospital. She lives in East Yorkshire with her family.

Say Mei qualified from Kings London in 1985. After qualifying she under took a house post at Kings College Hospital in Oral Surgery and Paediatrics. Following that she held a Senior House Officer post at Charles Clifford Dental Hospital Sheffield with rotations between Oral Surgery and Restorative Department. After this period Say Mei continued onto a Vocational Training job in general practice.

She located to Sheffield for her specialist registrar training in orthodontics, passing her MOrth examination. From 1995 until April 2012 she has held a part time staff grade post at Sheffield Dental Hospital which involved undergraduate teaching. She has also worked in specialist practices around the Yorkshire Region since qualifying as an orthodontist.

Her clinical skills consist of management of hypodontia (missing teeth), orthognathic (jaw) surgery and ectopic/ unerupted (misplaced) teeth (impacted canine). She is a member of the BDA and BOS.

Say Mei is originally from Malaysia but now lives in Leeds with her family. Most of her spare time is taken up by her son’s numerous extra curricula activities. She enjoys travelling, cooking and hiking.

Margaret Conway

Margaret qualified as a dentist from the Leeds Dental Institute in 1998. Her subsequent dental career has taken her on a journey across England and overseas. Completing vocational training in Cheltenham, she completed successive 12-month postgraduate Senior House Officer Hospital posts in Maxillofacial Surgery at City Hospital Birmingham and in Restorative Dentistry at the Charles Clifford Dental Hospital, Sheffield. She obtained Membership of the Faculty of Dental Surgery of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow) in 2001.

After a few years in general dental practice in Worcester and Tadcaster, and as an Orthodontic Assistant in Ilkley, Margaret spent several months teaching undergraduates at Dalhousie University Dental School, Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada. Upon her return to the UK in 2006, she commenced part-time specialist orthodontic training at the University of Leeds, the Leeds Dental Institute and Pinderfields General Hospital, during which she designed and conducted a randomised controlled trial of bonded orthodontic retainers. The results of this research study were selected for presentation at the British Orthodontic Conference in 2011, and her thesis formed part of the Masters in Dental Science degree awarded by Leeds University in the same year. She obtained Membership in Orthodontics from the Royal College of Surgeons of England in 2011.

Margaret joined Windmill Orthodontics in 2012 as a Specialist Orthodontist. She also continues to hold a position as Specialty Dentist in Orthodontics at Pinderfields Hospital, Wakefield. She lives with her family in North Leeds.
